Lure in the pollinators with this unique, long-blooming native annual wildflower!
This native annual grows up to 5' tall in a continuing skyward climb of translucent purple flowers that feed native pollinators! The "4th Sister" in some Native plantings, luring insects in to pollinate the beans and squash! Edible leaves, flowers, and seeds. Open-pollinated.
Seeds were grown by Swift River Farm in Salmon, Idaho and sustainably wildcrafted in the Great Basin by Kyle and friends at Native-Seed Company.
50 seeds.
Directions: Direct sow in late fall, pressing lightly into the soil surface of prepared site. Do not cover the seeds as they require light to germinate. Can also be planted in the early spring after 30 days of artificial cold stratification. Remove seeds from the packet and wrap seed in a moist (but not sopping wet) coffee filter or paper towel, place in a plastic sandwich bag, and place the bag in a clean glass jar. Store in the refrigerator for 30 days. If you want to broadcast the seed (rather than sowing individually), mix the seeds with moist sand in a plastic bag. Put the bag in a clean jar and the place in the refrigerator for 30 days. Direct sow the stratified seed outside, or start inside 6 weeks before the last frost. Transplant outside after danger of frost has passed.
